Centre Facilities
Your Security
Here at Hempstead Valley, we take your safety and security very seriously. We work closely with Kent Police to ensure Hempstead Valley remains a safe and relaxed environment for our guests and staff. We also have our own fully accredited team who are also First Aid trained.
We have CCTV that has been installed throughout the centre and our car parks. This is monitored 24/7 by our highly trained security staff. The walkways across the centre have large open spaces and clear sight lines, even the trees and shrubs are routinely cut back to maintain visibility and the car park is well lit.
We ensure security is an integral part of our day to day activities. We ask you to help us by being vigilant for anything or anyone that looks suspicious or out of place and report this to us.
Accessible Facilities - Parking
We do our best to make that the shopping centre accessible to everyone and are regularly audited to ensure that the services we provide are suitable to ensure that all our visitors are able to enjoy a great day out with us.
We have over 80 reserved parking spaces for guests with accessibility requirements, these are conveniently located close to shops and restaurants. Please remember to display your blue badge using one of these spaces and kindly remember that not all disabilities are visible.
Accessible Facilities - Toilets
We have one accessible toilet in the Gents toilet and two in the Ladies. These are located on the ramp by the underground car park.
A further accessible toilet is available by the Amazon lockers, close to Costa Coffee. You will require a RADAR key to use this toilet.
Changing Places
Sainsbury’s provides a Changing Places toilet facility within their store. This is located in the corridor on the left as you enter the supermarket. These amenities support visitors with adult social care needs and include a hoist–ceiling, loop, a height adjustable bench, accessible handles and a state-of-the-art alarm system.
Please bring along your RADAR key to use the facility.
RADAR Key
*A RADAR key is a blue and silver coloured key that opens more than 10,000 disabled toilets across the UK. RADAR keys are used by some 400 local authorities to allow disabled people access to locked, accessible toilets and help to keep accessible toilets free and clean. You can purchase a RADAR key online via the Disability Rights UK website or your local pharmacy.
Accessible Facilities – Wheelchair Use
We have a small number of wheelchairs available for our guests to use while at the shopping centre. If you require use of one of these, please contact our Security Office on (01634) 387 076 to book.
Amazon Locker
Our Amazon locker is located by Hays Travel and is called Brisbane.
Instead of delivering a parcel to your home or business address, you can select our Amazon Locker and pick up your parcel at a time that's convenient for you, after all parking at Hempstead Valley is free and the shops and restaurants and leisure facilities are open late.
Once your parcel is delivered to our Amazon Locker, you'll receive an e-mail notification with a unique pickup code and the address and opening times for your selected Locker location.
When you arrive to collect your parcel, enter your pickup code or scan the barcode using the barcode scanner and follow the instructions on the screen.
Autism Friendly
Sunflower lanyards are a discreet way of indicating that the wearer may have a hidden disability and as such, they may need extra support or a little more time.
On Monday mornings and Friday afternoons, we do not play music on the shopping mall to make the centre more autism friendly, however please be aware that retailers are likely to have music playing within their stores every day.
Baby & Children Facilities
Changing facilities: Available on the ramp by the ladies and gents toilets. There are also facilities in M&S and Sainsbury’s.
Car parking: Our car park is free and we have ample parent & child parking spaces, including undercover in the M&S multi storey car park and Sainsbury’s underground car park.
Late-night shopping: When it’s bedtime, reward yourself with a little you time. Get a babysitter and enjoy late night shopping with the shops open until 8.00pm on weekdays, or visit JD Gym which is open till 11.00pm. Our restaurants are open even later.
Bikes
We have a number of bike racks located around the shopping centre, they can be found near the bus stops, Burger King, Sainsbury’s Underground, Yellow Car park and Kent Reliance. Please chain your bike to these racks whilst at the centre but don’t forget to take your bike chain home with you.
Cash Machines
We have one cash machine facility located close to Perfume Shop and Vodafone. M&S and Sainsbury’s also have cash withdrawal machines.
Electric Car Charging
Simply plug in and shop!
Shop with peace of mind knowing that you're getting all charged up.
We have 10 EV parking bays conveniently located outside the Sainsbury’s underground car park.
EV Chargers are open 7 days a week:
Monday to Saturday: 6am – 11pm
Sunday: 8am – 8pm
Defibrillator
There is one defibrillator at Hempstead Valley, located by the Amazon lockers, Costa Coffee and Hays Travel.
Motorbikes
We have parking spaces for motorbikes. The spaces are by Burger King, Yellow car park and in the Sainsbury’s underground car park.
Photobooths
There are three photo booths on the link corridor by WhSmith and M&S.
Post Box
The post box is situated by the bus stops, opposite TK Maxx.
Community Hall
Hempstead Valley is situated in the heart of the local community and boasts a strong, loyal customer base. We work closely with local community groups helping them in various ways including access to the centre to raise awareness, sponsorship of local Hempstead events and support for their fundraising activities.
A range of community activities are held in our new Community Hall located in the new The Venue development on the first floor (accessible by lift or stairs) above Nando's and Kent Reliance Building Society.
