Local residents are being asked to nominate a charity to benefit from a supermarket's support for the next year.
Sainsbury's Hempstead Valley is asking customers and colleagues to put forward the charities important to them in the re-launch of the company's ‘Local Charity Partner' scheme.
A shortlist of nominations will be drawn up and three charities will be invited to meet with staff to talk about how Sainsbury's support could help them. The store will then choose a charity to partner with for the next 12 months.
Last year Sainsbury's stores and their customers helped more than 750 charities and organisations across the UK through fundraising and volunteering and gave more than £1.3million of support to local communities.
Store Manager Eddie Worth said: "We hope that by supporting one main charity partner over the next year, we'll be able to make a huge difference to its work. So now we just need customers to come in and tell us who they want us to consider."
Sainsbury's Local Charity Partner first launched in June 2009
Nominations can be made in store between 5th May - 19th May 2010
To nominate a charity, simply complete a nomination form and pop it into the ‘Local Charity of the Year' voting box found at the front of the store
