Help the Heroes charity collection

Joanne Canty

With less than 7 weeks to go to the start of the Help for Heroes Big Battlefield Bike Ride, Joanne Canty is not only clocking up the miles on her bike, but also stepping up the fundraising with a collection that was held at Hempstead Valley on Saturday 10 April which raised the grand total of £510.

Joanne commented "Everyone has been so supportive of our challenge, which is such a boost when you're out on the bike in the cold and rain trying to avoid potholes and motorists.  I can't believe how quickly the ride is approaching - I just hope I have done enough training to see me through as the more I look at the route, the more it scares me.  But I'm determined to cross that finish line and do my part to help the people out on the front line fighting to protect our freedom."

You'll easily find Joanne at Hempstead Valley (close to Sainsbury's main entrance), as she and her partner, Mick, will be in their Help for Heroes tops and taking turns on their turbo trainer to encourage people to support their ride in aid of such a worthy charity.

Help for Heroes wristbands, including the new child's sized wristbands, plus car stickers and trolley coins will also be available at their stand.

Help for Heroes Big Battlefield Bike Ride departs 24 May this year from Portsmouth.  joanne and her partner Mick will then cycle 350 miles across Northern France before ending up at Dieppe 5 days later to link up with the Little Ship Flotilla, who will be celebrating their 60th anniversary.
