Since November 2006, over £18,000 has been raised by local charities collecting at Hempstead Valley.  This includes, Seeing Dogs Alliance, Widsdom Hopsice, Celebral Palsy Care (Cliffe Woods), MacMillan Nurses and Hempstead Sea Scouts.

Royal British Legion, Gillingham Branch collected £11,626.46 during this year’s Poppy Appeal from generous customers of Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre.

Eric Holmwood, Honorary Poppy Appeal Organiser said, “This is a record for us and of course we have yet to count the individual shops.  The position of the stall was superb, as was the support from all your staff, it is appreciated.”

Su Button from Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre, said, “Our customers always give generously to charity appeals and this year they have surpassed themselves by donating a record amount to the Poppy Appeal. We are proud to offer our continued support to the dedicated Poppy Appeal collectors whose fundraising helps with vital welfare work for the ex-Service and Service community in this country.”
